Big Sioux Holds Mini-SAREX
Big Sioux Composite Squadron held a mini-SAREX on October 16. The training, in part, was to prepare for a later wing SAREX Nov 6. The event included cadets and senior members, including new cadets without uniforms.

Pierre Composite Squadron cadets and senior members accomplished an activity October 15-16 that had been planned for some time but had to be adjusted to fit CAP's COVID restrictions. An overnight camping trip was originally planned for the weekend but the overnight portion was removed to follow current guidelines.
Thirteen South Dakota Wing pilots participated in a mountain flying clinic on October 9. The event, held virtually, was instructed by two CAP members from Utah Wing.
Maj. John Spangler demonstrated the SDWG Wind Tunnel to a class at the South Dakota School of Technology on October 8. The class was EE457, Avionics Systems. Spangler is assistant director of Aerospace Education for the wing.
Rosemary Beuckens, of Sioux Falls, died October 8th at Ava’s Hospice House in Sioux Falls. She had been a long-term contributor to CAP’s Sioux Falls Composite Squadron for flight scholarships for cadet (youth) members.

Lincoln County Composite Squadron was honored to have two awesome speakers at the squadron’s Aerospace Education meeting Tuesday, September 14, 2021. CAP members Lt. Col. Duncan Keirnes and Senior Member Tom Rysavy shared their knowledge on the A7 Corsair jet, formerly flown by the South Dakota Air National Guard.
South Dakota Wing communicators recently joined in the Top Cat 2021 Bravo communications exercise, including on both HF and VHF radio channels. The region exercise was held on the twentieth anniversary of 9/11. Wings were encouraged to schedule corresponding training and exercise efforts.
