SD Wing performs ROTC/JROTC Orientation Flights
South Dakota Wing provided a series of orientation flights to Air Force ROTC cadets from South Dakota State University, Air Force Junior ROTC cadets from Roosevelt High School, and CAP's own cadets on September 15-16. The flights for the 51 cadets were funded by the US Air Force.
Cadet Color Guard Members from Lincoln County and Sioux Falls Composite Squadrons posted/retired the colors and presented the POW/MIA table at Veteran's Memorial Park on National POW/MIA Day on September 15.
South Dakota Wing conducted its final operational training exercise of the fiscal year in Custer September 8-9. The training included CAP aircrews, ground teams, and drone teams to elevate proficiency for CAP mission operations in the rugged Black Hills.
South Dakota Wing's Crazy Horse Composite Squadron assisted the American Legion and VFW with a 9/11 Flag Retirement Ceremony in Custer, SD. The ceremony was held in conjunction with the September 11, 2001 community commemoration.
Pierre Composite Squadron participated in a Scotty Philip Day parade with a float carrying a small replica of a Piper J-3, hand-built by squadron member Maj Lee Vaughan, assistant aerospace education officer.
South Dakota Wing of Civil Air Patrol will gather in Brookings and Spearfish Saturday (July 15) to practice search and rescue and disaster response photography skills with aircraft, drones, and ground teams.
