South Dakota Wing held a day-long operational mission training exercise on Saturday, Nov 5. The training, conducted at multiple locations around the state, featured airborne search and photography skills, ground search, air-to-ground coordination, aerial drone photography, and related mission management skills.
South Dakota Wing holds a distributed SAREX tomorrow, Nov. 5. The event will feature squadrons training in their home locations, based on locally-determined operational training priorities.
South Dakota Wing, Civil Air Patrol, aircrews flew four training sorties with F-16 jets of the 175th Fighter Squadron, South Dakota Air National Guard on October 18 and 21. CAP’s Cessnas simulated unauthorized aircraft flying in restricted air space.
The 2023 Joint Dakota Encampment executive team is excited to announce C/1st Lt Devin Griffin as the Cadet Commander for the upcoming encampment next year.
The Mary Chilton DAR Foundation, Daughters of the American Revolution, informed South Dakota Wing this week that the wing will receive a grant to fund six sets of new squadron color guard equipment. The Sioux Falls-based foundation and chapter awarded $11,556 to the wing for this purpose.
Three South Dakota cadet teams met in Pierre October 7-8 for the wing cadet competition. Sioux Falls Composite Squadron took first place, Rushmore Composite Squadron came in second, and Big Sioux Composite Squadron was a very close third place.
Units in South Dakota Wing have received three notable charitable gifts.
Twenty-three senior members and 48 cadets from across CAP’s North Central Region attended the 2022 North Central Region Cadet Honor Academy in Sioux Falls, September 23-25.
