(Sioux Falls) - One of the services South Dakota Wing, CAP, provides to the South Dakota Air National Guard is low-level route surveys.  The surveys check the training routes the guard uses, as a safety precaution, to check for new towers or other obstructions the guard aircraft might encounter.

Yesterday (Aug 14) a CAP aircrew consisting of Capt. Matt Meert, Capt. Brandon West and Maj. Karla West made the long trek to Salina, Kansas and back, carefully checking the entire route.

It’s one of the many services Civil Air Patrol provides to Air Force and Air Guard units across the country in its role of Air Force Auxiliary, part of the Total Force of the U.S. Air Force.
