A Civil Air Patrol (CAP) aircrew on a routine training flight found a flair-up of a fire in the Black Hills on March 31 which had been extinguished two days earlier.

South Dakota Wing of Civil Air Patrol will conduct dual East and West River training exercises Saturday (March 13) to practice skills used in search and rescue and disaster relief missions. The exercise mission bases will be in Sioux Falls and Custer.

The new Civil Air Patrol Virginia Wing commander, Col (Select) Elizabeth "Liz" Sydow, is a former South Dakota Wing member.

South Dakota Wing, Civil Air Patrol, is flying again today in the search for a missing Day County woman. We're looking in specific areas identified by the Day County Sheriff's office.

South Dakota Civil Air Patrol (CAP) joined the search today for a woman missing in Day County. Amy Dougherty was last seen when she left for work Wednesday, driving in blizzard conditions from Andover to Bristol. She was driving a black Chevy Trailblazer. CAP involvement was requested by the Day County Sheriff’s Department via the South Dakota Department of Emergency Management.

South Dakota Civil Air Patrol (CAP) has received a rare award for excellence.  The Unit Citation Award, given by the organization’s national headquarters, recognized unprecedented growth and accomplishments during 2019.
