Unified Alerting Planned for Feb SAREXs
South Dakota Wing will be testing a system during its February SAREXs that has the ability to alert mission-qualified members by phone, email, and text message simultaneously.
The system provided by national headquarters, known as ReadyOp, is used by agencies including law enforcement and even professional sports teams to manage communication during large events.
“ReadyOp has the potential to send alerts to all South Dakota Wing members who have completed General emergency Services and who are age 18 or older,” said Col. Michael Marek, South Dakota Wing commander. “The initial tests, however, will be to smaller groups, such as squadron commander and certain mission specialties.”
Marek noted that members receiving a ReadyOp alert might receive a recorded voice message, an email, and a text message all at the same time
