Sixteen members of Civil Air Patrol’s South Dakota Wing gathered last week for a Training Leaders of Cadets, Basic, a required class for adult members who lead the organization’s youth program, known as the cadet program.
Civil Air Patrol’s South Dakota Wing played a crucial part in South Dakota Air National Guard 114th Fighter Wing aerial intercept training March 16.
South Dakota Wing, Civil Air Patrol, recently assisted the South Dakota Air National Guard’s 114th Fighter Wing’s training for intercepting small aircraft. The training took place during the evening and night of January 25 over southcentral South Dakota.
Ten Civil Air Patrol pilots and aircrew members worked on mission skills Saturday (May 22) during "Mission Pilot Ground Training" conducted by South Dakota Wing. The training was recurrency training for pilots and crew who are already qualified.
South Dakota Wing, Civil Air Patrol, played a crucial part in South Dakota Air National Guard 114th Fighter Wing aerial intercept training May 12 and 13 by playing the role of adversary aircraft flying in restricted air space. The training helped the Air Guard be ready for the possible real-world need to intercept aircraft having emergencies, violations of Temporary Flight Restriction areas, and other aerial targets.
Black Hills squadrons of Civil Air Patrol (CAP) conducted training in the use of search drones Saturday, April 10, in Rapid City. The drones, officially called small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS), are among the CAP’s newest capabilities in its role as Air Force Auxiliary.
