Sioux Falls Composite Squadron, Civil Air Patrol, was presented with a $3,000 check from the Twisted Nightmare Haunted House on December 2nd, 2021.

Sioux Falls Composite Squadron’s Commander, 1 st Lt. Travis Robinson, and his family volunteered at the Twisted Nightmare Haunted House every weekend in October leading up to the weekend of Halloween. While he and his family were volunteering at the Twisted Nightmare, Robinson was told that the Twisted Nightmare would like to make a donation to the Civil Air Patrol. Robinson was not told at that time how much the donation to Sioux Falls Composite Squadron would be – they found out later that the donation was $3,000.

“The Sioux Falls Composite Squadron is humble and gracious for the donation and will use the money to fund a flight scholarship for a cadet who is passionate about aviation,” said Robinson. In addition to the flight scholarship, the awarded funds will also be used for daily operations at Sioux Falls Composite Squadron. The Twisted Nightmare Haunted House is located on the east side of Sioux Falls at the South Dakota Fraternal Order of Police Lodge.

The Twisted Nightmare is a fundraiser primarily for the South Dakota Fraternal Order of Police and Feeding South Dakota (taking in food for the organization), but they have also donated money to other non-profit organizations. In previous years, they have donated to the American Red Cross, the Sioux Falls Humane Society, and Make-A-Wish South Dakota. The fundraiser is run completely by volunteers passionate about creating spooky tours and has been growing for the past 16 years.

South Dakota Wing, CAP, has over 400 members with units based in Brookings, Custer, Miller/Faulkton, Pierre, Rapid City, Sioux Falls, Spearfish and Tea. The wing can deploy its six aircraft, ground teams, and small search drones to assist in emergency response and other support to local, state, tribal and federal agencies
