SFCS Community Service

Members from Sioux Falls Composite Squadron demonstrated the CAP Core Value of Volunteer Service this month, supporting the Sioux Falls Sidewalk Arts Festival and the 20th annual South Dakota Truck Convoy for Special Olympics this month.
Members participated in the morning setup and evening cleanup for the arts festival, as they have for several years. The festival is a free outdoor event with more than 300 vendor booths featuring the region’s best fine art, folk art, and craft artisans, as well as nonprofit organizations and food vendors.
Squadron members presented the colors for the Truck Convoy for Special Olympics. Participating truckers pay a $100 fee before or at registration. During the event, both locations hold auctions for valuable items as well as for the prestigious title of Lead Truck. The Convoy solicits corporate sponsors and engages community partners to contribute financially. The funds go directly to support and benefit the Law Enforcement Torch Run; Special Olympics South Dakota's largest grassroots fundraising campaign. Special Olympics South Dakota has over 2,500 Athletes statewide.
