SD Wing Offers Resources to Educators

South Dakota Wing was on hand when educators gathered in Rapid City this week for the Technology in Education (TIE) conference. CAP members were there to inform educators about the opportunities for aerospace and STEM educational resources offered by CAP.

CAP provides educators free STEM  kits, teacher orientation flights in CAP aircraft, and extensive curriculum resources, in exchange for a one-time $35 membership with free renewals.

“Aerospace Education is one of the three main mission program areas of CAP, assigned to us by Congress,” said Col Michael Marek, SD Wing commander. “We offer educators over 20 STEM kits, most of which can be reused in multiple classes. It’s an important part of CAP’s effort to prepare the next generation of aerospace and STEM leaders.”

South Dakota Wing shared a booth with colleagues in the Air and Space Force Association (AFA), which also offers educational opportunities to educators.

TIE is a division of Black Hills Special Services Cooperative (BHSSC).
