South Dakota Wing will soon receive a G1000 glass cockpit simulator, funded by North Central Region.  The simulator, which works with standard flight simulator software, is intended for pilot training, but may also be used for Aerospace Education.

The RealSimGear G1000 Suite is a high-quality, ultra-realistic hardware interface for the wing’s flight simulators. The suite includes the G1000 PFD, MFD and GMA audio panel. The PFD and MFD each contain a dedicated 10.4" high-quality HDMI display. The system connects to a PC via a USB cable and comes pre-loaded with the RealSimGear drivers for easy 'plug and play' operation.

South Dakota Wing is developing a management plan to use the simulator for pilot onboarding and proficiency.  On a non-conflicting basis, the system may also be used for Aerospace Education events and recruiting events focused on aircrews.
