SDWG Cadet Team Excels in National Competition
The South Dakota Wing cadet competition team placed in the top 10 at Civil Air Patrol’s National Cadet Competition in Ohio this month. The team, from Sioux Falls Cadet Squadron (SFCS), had previously earned the right to represent North Central Region in the region cadet competition this spring.
The competition, including two teams from each CAP region, included a uniform inspection, drill test, indoor demonstrations, a presentation on a CAP service project, and an extemporaneous speech event, as well as a mile run, other fitness tests, a written exam, and drone proficiency demonstration.
The SFCS cadets earned FIRST PLACE in the challenging Team Leadership Problem event.
Cadet 2nd Lt Grace Ingebretson earned the FLEET FOOT award for the fastest female mile run across all teams (5' 41"). The team earned 10th place of 16 OVERALL.
The South Dakota team consisted of C/Maj Keon den Hoed, C/1Lt Zephaniah Tolliver, C/2dLt Ethan den Hoed, C/2dLt Grace Ingebretson, C/CMSgt Clara Giddings, and C/MSgt Alex Smith.
