October ES Academy Refreshes Skills
SDWG members gathered in Sioux Falls on October 14 for continuing training for CAP’s operational missions.
Civil Air Patrol performs search, disaster relief, and other missions in its role as the U.S. Air Force auxiliary, part of the Air Force Total Force. CAP is aligned with First Air Force in a Defense Support of Civil Authorities capacity to supplement local resources to save lives, relieve suffering, prevent property damage and provide humanitarian assistance.
CAP’s training requirements are structured as tasks to accomplish and knowledge to demonstrate. In most cases, the attendees were requalifying, which is required for each individual qualification task at least every three years. Academy attendees worked on tasks related to aircrew and drone team requirements. For example, Maj. E.W. Filler, pictured, presents about aircraft grid search patterns.
