Rapid City Christian High School visited South Dakota Wing Headquarters Wednesday, October 27. It was the school's Enrichment Day and students visited Rapid City Regional Airport, where the Civil Air Patrol state headquarters office is located.
Pierre Composite Squadron cadets and senior members accomplished an activity October 15-16 that had been planned for some time but had to be adjusted to fit CAP's COVID restrictions. An overnight camping trip was originally planned for the weekend but the overnight portion was removed to follow current guidelines.
Twenty Civil Air Patrol (CAP) members attended an Aerospace Education Day at the Philip, SD, Airport Saturday, August 21. Attendees came from Rapid City, Spearfish, Custer, Philip, Pierre and Sioux Falls.
Maj. Sarah Smith, USAF, was a special guest of Pierre Composite Squadron on Tuesday, August 3. Smith, originally from Fort Pierre, joined the meeting via Teams to share experiences of her ten years in the military and discuss why she joined, talk about ROTC, and share about her job.
Young people attending the Sioux Falls Airshow learned about aerospace education and about CAP on Aug. 5. Sioux Falls and Lincoln County Composite Squadrons teamed up to create an informative booth at the Aviation Day festivities held at Maverick Aviation on Joe Foss Field, Sioux Falls.
The recent Civil Air Patrol (CAP) youth program encampment at Camp Rapid concluded one day early after five participants tested positive for COVID-19.
Civil Air Patrol members from across the country will be in Rapid City July 10-18 for the 2021 Joint Dakota Encampment. Hosted by the North Dakota and South Dakota CAP Wings at Camp Rapid, nearly 175 staff and students will come from all eight CAP regions and 16 states.
Sioux Falls Composite Squadron was the overall winner of the Civil Air Patrol’s South Dakota Wing Cadet Competition. The event pitted youth CAP members, known as cadets, from three South Dakota units in friendly competition. Big Sioux Composite Squadron placed second and Rushmore Composite Squadron was third.
Three teams of Civil Air Patrol (CAP) youth members, known as cadets, will compete in nine categories June 18-19 in Pierre.
